Online vehicle orders set to beat 50 per cent by end of yearFleet Week--24/05/2006--Online vehicle orders are set to exceed 50 per cent of the total placed with GE Commercial Finance, Fleet Services in the UK by the end of this year. This figure suggests that UK fleets are leading the adoption of online services across Europe, where the average GE Fleet Services’ online order figure is now over 10 per cent. This corresponds to a figure of 40% for GE Fleet Services UK.
iQuote and iOrder, part of GE Fleet Services’ Online Key product range, are now used by more than 1,500 customers across Europe to access quotes and order vehicles online.
Research by the company indicates that the products allow the typical fleet manager to cut the time needed to complete a vehicle quote and order by around 20 per cent.
One of the most enthusiastic adopters of iQuote in the UK has been construction products and materials distributor Wolseley UK Limited, which operates a fleet of more than 2,000 cars across more than 1,400 locations under well-known brands including Plumb Center, Build Center, Parts Center and Pipe Center.
Ian Wighton, Fleet Manager, says "iQuote is good for us from a managerial point of view because it reduces the amount of work undertaken by our fleet administrators, while our drivers like it because they can choose a new company car anytime at home or work.
"Also, tracking the progress of a large amount of orders through the system is a useful feature, as well as knowing that our company car policy rules on car choice are set within the levels which the drivers can access."
Rich Green, Managing Director at GE Fleet Services in the UK, said: "The continuing investment we have made in our online technology is paying dividends for fleet managers across Europe but especially in the UK, where we have a very advanced fleet market.
"Customers favour these online products because they are fast, flexible, and massively reduce the amount of administration needed to complete a vehicle order. We expect the growth in their use to continue strongly throughout 2006."
After its initial launch in the Netherlands in 2003, iQuote and iOrder has been gradually rolled out across the rest of Europe. It is now available in Netherlands, Belgium, France, United Kingdom, Germany, Spain, Portugal and Italy, with Sweden soon to follow.
